Weekly Art Classes On Wednesday 12th September 2012, local artist Bob Goldsborough will be starting weekly art classes in Gallery II at Dee Fine Arts.
Students will have the opportunity to develop their artistic abilities in a friendly & enjoyable atmosphere, whatever their level. Bob has a wealth of accumulated knowledge & experience as an artist to share as well as an aptitude for teaching & communication.
Each weekly session will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm. During the class Bob will give a demonstration, followed by related projects for those who wish to persue them. Students may also work on their own projects with help & advice from Bob.
The introductory session costs £20 & further sessions can be booked monthly for £75 or quarterly for £200 (this represents a 17% discount). Students can also book sessions individually (subject to available space) & do not need to have attended the introductory session.

Stained Glass Workshops with Colette Galvin
Due to their popularity, Colette will now be running her one-day stained glass workshops on the 2nd Saturday of each month throughout 2012.
On each course students learn all the techniques required to make a glass panel or seasonal piece. The fee for the day is £60 & this includes the use of tools & all standard materials. There are just 6 places available on each course.
Contact the gallery to book your place. Students must be over 14 years of age to take part in the workshop.
Oct 2012 Heswall Arts Festival As part of the Heswall Arts Festival we will be holding a special Art & Craft Weekend at the gallery. A number of local artists & craftworkers including Jim Fleming, Margi Adams & Jen Wynne will be setting up their studios in Gallery II. This event has always been very popular as it offers customers a chance watch the artists creating their masterpieces & chat to them about their work.
Launch Night - The Coastal Show
On Friday 21st September 2012 from 7pm-9pm we held an Open Night to launch our new exhibition of paintings & prints by Wirral artist Ian Fennelly.
It was a very lively event & guests enjoyed meeting Ian & chatting to him about his work.
Independents' Day Wednesday 4th July 2012 was National Independents' Day - a day to celebrate all the great & varied independent retailers in the UK. Thank you to all our customers who called in to support their local independent art gallery & picture framers.
Winter Stained Glass Workshop with Colette Galvin On Saturday 10th December 2011 Colette held her Winter Stained Glass Workshop in which students learned to make festive decorations.
Open Art Exhibition For two weeks in October Heswall became a centre for music, art & theatre during the Heswall Arts Festival. There were a number of events taking place in various locations around the town including street entertainment, art & craft exhibitions, music, drama, poetry & dancing.
Dee Fine Arts took part in the Festival by holding an Open Exhibition of Art & Craft, showcasing work by artists from the area.
Private View to Launch New Exhibition
On Friday 30th September 2011, we hosted a Private View to launch our new exhibition of limited edition silkscreen prints, etchings & photographs - 'Sir Peter Blake & Friends' .
Mike McCartney, who is exhibiting his newly released portfolio 'box set' of photographs which were first shown at the new Museum of Liverpool, opened the Exhibition & chatted to guests about his work.
Wirral Open Studios Tour We were delighted to once again take part in the Wirral Open Studios Tour this year. Over the weekend of 24th/25th September 2011, mosaic artist & jewellery designer Margi Adams set up her studio in the upstairs gallery where she demonstrated making fabric brooches.
In conjunction with this event a number of artists including Jim Fleming, Jen Wynne, Julia Duerden, Colette Galvin & Dave Shiers also did demonstrations of their art & craft. We will be hosting more events like this in the future so keep checking our website for updates or sign up for our email newsletters.

We were delighted to welcome Colette Galvin back to the gallery in July & August, October & November to run her one-day stained glass workshops. The students produced fantastic pieces on the day. Congratulations to Roy Price who won the People's Choice Award at the recent Irby Artists exhibition. We were delighted to donate a prize of a £50 framing voucher & Roy is pictured here receiving his award from gallery owner Sue Webster.
One Day Stained Glass Course with Colette Galvin
On two separate Saturdays in April, Colette Galvin ran a one-day stained glass course where the students learned all the techniques required to make a panel or spring flower. Red Nose Day 2011 On Friday 18th March 2011 we held a prize draw to raise money for Comic Relief. Jim the Artist painted one of his infamous upside down paintings and a prize draw was held for customers to win a bottle of bubbly.
Open Day to Launch The British Printmakers Exhibition
On Saturday 5th March 2011 we held an Open Day to launch our British Printmakers Exhibition. Many came along and enjoyed a free glass of wine & refreshments while viewing stunning limited edition prints by some of Britain's leading artists such as Sir Peter Blake CBE RA, Barbara Rae CBE RA, Richard Tuff & Katty McMurray.

5 Wirral Artists at Dee Fine Arts!
Over the weekend of 13th & 14th November 2010, Dee Fine Arts took part in the Liverpool Independents Biennial. We handed over the upstairs gallery to a number of local artists to use as their studio. Jim Fleming, Jen Wynne, Margi Adams, Julia Duerden & Judith Smith set up their easels & workbenches as part of the Wirral Open Studios Tour.
Dave Bez To launch his new exhibition of industrial landscape paintings, Dave Bez visited Dee Fine Arts on Saturday 25th September 2010. Dave's work will be on show at the gallery until the end of October 2010.
Congratulations to our Open Exhibition Winners!
Visitors to our Open Exhibition of Art & Crafts were asked to vote for their favourite artwork or craft item. The artist who received the most votes was Stephen Sheehan for his painting Discombobulated Society. Stephen is pictured here receiving his award from Sue Webster.
A special recognition award was given to artist Jenny Dunlop whose mixed media work Ruby Basset was chosen by the staff at Dee Fine Arts. Jenny received a £250 framing voucher.
Preview Night - Open Exhibition of Art & Crafts - April 2010
On Friday 30th April 2010 we held a Preview Night for the Open Exhibition of Art & Crafts. Many of the artists whose work had been selected for the exhibition attended and customers were able to be amongst the first to view the incredible talent of our local artists and craftworkers. The Open Exhibition will continue until Saturday 15th May 2010.
Heswall Map Competition - March 2010
As part of the celebrations to mark our 30th Anniversary, Dee Fine Arts offered customers the chance to win a framed map of Heswall. The competition ended on Saturday 20th March 2010 and the lucky winner was Ruth Ratcliffe from Irby, pictured here on the left receiving her prize from Dee Fine Arts' proprietor Sue Webster.
March 2010 - Open Evening to Launch an Exhibition of New Work by Ruth Piper
Dee Fine Arts hosted an Open Evening on Monday 1st March to launch the exhibition of new paintings by Irby artist Ruth Piper. The lively event gave guests the opportunity to talk to Ruth about her work and view her new collection.
October 2009 - Open Evening to Launch Two Fantastic ExhibitionsOn Friday 2nd October, Dee Fine Arts held an Open Evening to launch our two new exhibitions. The first exhibition was a collection of landscape paintings by the Award Winning Artist, Ivan Taylor. Ivan attended the Open Evening where he chatted to guests about his career as an artist and his current collection of work.
Our second exhibition featured a diverse range of work by Wirral based Contemporary Jewellery Designers, many of whom were at the gallery on the night.
Following the success of our Open Evening, both exhibitions continued throughout October & November 2009.
June 2009 - A Visit from The Mayor & Mayoress of Wirral
The Mayor & Mayoress of Wirral, Andrew & Kathryn Hodson attended the Private View of paintings by David & Paul Shiers which was held at the gallery on 1st June 2009.
March 2009 - Dee Fine Arts Does Comic Relief
Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Sands of Heswall on winning the Liverpool Cityscape print by Ben Johnson in the Comic Relief Raffle. Plus a huge thank you to all our customers who took part in the events at the gallery and helped us to raise almost £250 for Comic Relief.
